TOP OF THE LAKE “Best Sound in Television” Nomination

Richard Flynn, Tony Vaccher, John Dennison, Craig Butters, Danny Longhurst and Blair Slater have been nominated for the AACTA Best Sound in Television Award for their work on the award winning mini series TOP OF THE LAKE.  The technical awards will be announced at the 3rd AACTA Awards Luncheon to be held on Tuesday 28th January at the Star Event Centre, Sydney.

We’d like to acknowledge the rest of the sound team for their wonderful contribution: boom swinger, Matt Cuirc; sound editors, Adrian Bilinsky and Michael Newton; Blair’s fabulous foley team at Longstocking Studios, Duncan McAllister, Daniell Johnston and Andrew Simmons; and ADR engineer extraordinaire, Martin Oswin of Redline Studios.

Working on TOP OF THE LAKE was a great pleasure for us all, not only for its superb material but also for the very special people we shared this time with:  the creators of this intriguing story, Jane Campion and Gerard Lee; the production string pullers, Emile Sherman, Iain Canning, Philippa Campbell, Jane and the friendly See-Saw team; the directors, Garth Davis and Jane; the picture editors, Alexandre de Franceschi and Scott Gray with the team at Guillotine; and of course Colleen Clark, Celine Goetz and all at PPost & Deliver.

A rich yet subtle atmospheric soundtrack was called for here to provide a strong sense of place in a rugged landscape where Nature itself becomes an unfolding character in this mystery.  Our ultimate goal was to engage the audience through an intimacy and detail in the story telling.

We’re all delighted to have been able to make our own contribution to this very fine production.
